Do you buy your friends gifts? Like if you find something you think they'd like?

Do people normally buy their friends gifts other than special occasions? For example, you are out shopping and find a shirt that your friend would love.. would you buy it for them?





I think it might be nice to do, and I know other groups of friends that do. I've had the same friends for over 10 years and we usually stick to special occasions.

of course i do i love my friends to death but it also depends on if i have the money at the time
Reply:It's a very nice idea and it's very kind to be able to share that way. If you and your friends enjoy this, why not?





However, I stick to special occasions - that's what my friends and I are doing and I think it's enough for us.





Also, I am not a person who loves shopping - in fact, I actually dislike shopping - it makes me feel tired to look at many things with many people all around. It feels like work trying to decide what other people would like. I know this feeling is unusual because most women love shopping, but I am not one of them.
Reply:They would have to be very deserving and good friends.
Reply:I do, if I have the money. I like to get gifts, so I like to buy them for people. If my husband didn't stop me I would probably go broke buying gifts for people. It's fun!
Reply:If I'm a money printing machine, then I wouldn't mind. At the moment, I don't even buy a shirt in a month for myself. Credit card bills are rocket high. Eating out everyday just make things "better". Salary remains and commissions are not coming in. Practically there's no savings at all every month.





So, it will be a little unlucky to have a friend like me.
Reply:if something that a friend of mine would really like is on sale or at goodwill I would pick it up for them. for example, a friend of mine is really into Asian fashion and I found chinese dresses on the rack at goodwill that would fit her, so I bought them.


She gave me a whole year's worth of shojo beat magazines that she was getting rid of rather than throwing them away because she knows I like manga. and she sometimes makes things for my cats.


none of us have a lot of money, so we don't really shop for each other at full price, but we do give each other things all the time.
Reply:I do on occassion, especially with my close friends, and especially if it is something that I can pick up relatively inexpensively. I think it's nice to let our friends know they are special to us every day, not just on their birthdays or on holidays like Christmas.
