How do I find friends / pen pals on the net.?

I am not seeking romance. My mother bought me a computer as a thank you, and I thought that I would be able to find a network of friends all over the world. The truth was horribly different. If I do a search I enveriably end up on some dating site, which is not what I want. Does anyone have idea where I can find friends, preferably world wide. I'm not bothered what sex just as long as they are over 25.


P.S Not looking for sex talk either.

Reply:Some of the dating sites DO have chat forums, you don't need to fill out your details on the sign-up page, just put basically that you are looking for friends to chat to only. I used to go on one called www.connectingsingles.com and they had a great chat forum from all over the world... I made some great friends there so maybe worth a try. No matter what site you go onto though you will (unfortunately) always get the sex freaks... Just block them or ignore them :)
