My friends dad is a mamber of a 'Masonic Lodge' and I want to find out more?

I have known for a while now that my friends dad is a 'Freemason' and the member of a Masonic Lodge somewhere. He cant talk about what he does or who else is a member, he cant even tell his family! Personally ive always found him a bit creepy, he is hardly ever at home and hes always going to these 'meetings' with other freemasons. I want to try and find out more about the freemasons because it all sounds a bit dodgy to me like a big cover up for something. Does anyone know where I could get any info on these people?

Go to Google, insert 'Freemasonry exposed' in the search window and you will be overwhelmed with websites explaining the influence this organisation has on society at all levels. Ostensibly it describes itself as a charity... but the main beneficiaries seem to be other freemasons! For example (from _very_ close family connections), architects, planning people and builders, via their lodge connection, will ensure that business will go to local lodge members. A book (the title of which I can not recall - but if I do, I will amend this entry), written by a British author published some years ago, was a brilliant and definitive expose' of this organisation. At one time it was almost impossible to get promotion in the police force unless you were a freemason... and if you were ever stopped for some roadside transgression being a freemason was often a 'get out of jail' card. Even if freemasons write in to refute your instinctive impression or any other adverse 'Answers', they are on very shaky grounds - and they know it. Remember the Italian banker who was found hanging under Blackfriars Bridge in London a few years ago? Well, read the Freemasonary background to that little incident...
Reply:Wow when they come out they do it in droves. (Mason Haters)

Freemasons are a fraternity "men only" There is also a female version called the Eastern Star. They have three appendent bodies the York Rite, Scottish Rite, and Shriners. Masons raise money for charity providing millions of dollars a day to various charities and it costs about 8 million a day to run a Shriners hospital where a child is treated at no charge. A society of secrets rather than a secret society all our rituals are plastered all over the Internet. But our grips, keys, and tokens are kept as secret as possible in the information age. I love all you people and your conspiracy theories and just remember if your right your in alot of trouble lol.
Reply:They are a secret organization, and are generally interested in ruling the world from the shadows.

Reply:To be honest the funny hand shake brigade are usually a bunch of businessmen who's only aim is to network with other businessmen in hope of lining each others pockets.

Oh, and to wear funny hats and chant silly things and drink etc etc.
Reply:It's a bit like the Boy Scouts for sad old men. If you really want to know what's going on try

Reply:The Masonic Lodge in America is a highly influential organization claiming some four million members. Masonic leaders argue the lodge is not a religion but merely a fraternal body that seeks to better society and also assist the Christian church. It does this, they claim, by helping Christians become better members of their own faith.
Reply:Good luck
