On myspace, how do you find friends? Is it ok just to search and find someone interesting?

I'm afraid to search for friends on my myspace. I don't want any weirdos, just people with the same interest. Is it proper etiquette to ask or 'add' someone or are they going to think I'm weird? I would like to find people that like the same music I do. Is it ok to search and ask that person to be my friend? Is that the way myspace works, or should I just stay with the people that are already my friends and have myspace pages?

some people are ok w/strangers asking to be their friend, some aren't. either way, ur just asking and they can always say no if they don't like you. just don't harass anybody. if you don't already know who u are asking, then it doesn't matter what they think of you. on the flip side, if some one asks to be ur friend, look at their profile and decide for yourself. u can say no too.


does ur fave band have a myspace page? many artists do. try to add them as a friend. that may help your search. i have a tv show as 1 of my 'friends'. somebody else i know has almost all celebs as 'friends'.


however you find friends, BE CAREFUL! you sound like your just getting into the myspace scene. there are wierdos out there, ones who may want to do you harm. b4 thinking of adding a friend, look at that profile's friends. do u know any of those people? are they people you'd want to be associated with? and as for your profile, don't put anything out there you wouldn't want your worst enemy to see or anything that could get u into trouble if the wrong person saw it. sticking to only people you actually know in person is most often the safest thing to do.
Reply:it's fine to send a friend request to a new person, just be smart about it. make sure that you don't have any information about you on your page that you wouldn't want strangers to know, like your full name, details on where you live, ect. just browse through the friends lists of bands you like, and add those that you find interesting. i have a few friends that i've met over myspace, there's no problem with it.
Reply:As a myspace addict I can safely say that it is, as a matter of fact, it is safe to add people who look interesting, just make sure their page isn't full of porn or that kinda stuff. But yeah, overall it's safe even if people and news make it such a bad place
